Research
studies on large groups of people have found that people who often eat peanuts and nuts
have much lower risks of heart disease. Also, scientists are finding that diets high in
monounsaturated fats, the type found in peanuts, may also protect against heart diseas,
peanuts may even inhibit cancer. That is why in China peanuts are also called
"chang sheng guo" meaning in English "long-life nuts"
Peanuts
and peanut butter are whole foods that contain a variety of vitamins and minerals, ample
protein and beneficial unsaturated fats. Since they are a plant food, they naturally
contain no cholesterol.
Though peanuts are a wholesome healthy food for the vast majority of
people., there is still misconceptions that "they
are fattening", "they are high in cholesterol", in order to overcome these
misconceptions and promote the upside of peanuts, the Bristish Peanut Council has embarked on a pro-active promotion campaign to tell the
truth story of peanut. We are pround of to be one of
the partners of the Go Pea Nutty for Health campaign.
